How to Find a Cheap Wedding DJ in Toronto?
The key to finding a cheap DJ in the greater Toronto area is to contact a few companies listed in the table above and ask for a firm quote and availability.
It is always a good idea to share the details of your wedding day with the DJ and during the consultation to ensure that he or she is a good fit.
How much is a DJ?
In Toronto, a typical wedding DJ charges between $500 and $1,500 for 7 hours of service. If you hire a company you will pay a higher price than for freelancer DJ. Also, weddings are more expensive than events such as birthday parties and corporate events.
There are a few factors that influence the final quote.
Duration of the Entertainment Set
First, the duration of the DJ'd set and how much involvement is needed. The longer the events, the higher your quote. While you may think DJ is easy and fun just need to play some music, right? In fact, good DJ-ing requires a lot of work. The DJ has to always feel the pulse of the party and anticipate any upcoming scheduled events. A good DJ keeps in touch at least with your wedding planner, your wedding photographer and videographer to ensure everything runs smoothly and the dance floor is always packed.
We heard horror stories were the DJ announced the bouquet toss while the photographers were taking candid photos of the guests mainly in the foyer. Not ideal!
Venue and Extra Services
Also, the type of venue is also an important cost factor. Larger venues require more sophisticated equipment which takes longer to set up. As usually, any bells and whistles will drive the cost up. For example, additional lighting, bubbles, fog, confetti will have to be factored in the final quote.
Will your DJ also be your master of ceremony? That will probably cost you extra.
If Your DJ needs to work on special playlists for your wedding day, he or she will charge you extra for those special requests.
Experience and reputation are also an important factor that influences not only the cost but also the decision to hire a particular DJ. While some you and very talented DJs are cheap, we don't recommend hiring them for your big day. We know that you might be saving a few hundred dollars but the lack experience and professional equipment cannot substitute the enthusiasm of the brand-new DJ.
Travel and Geographical Location
Many DJs charge for travel over 100 km and you will need to do the math to determine if an out of town DJ could potentially save you some money.
